Hearing FAQs
How long do hearing aids last?
The average lifespan of a hearing aid is between 3-7 years. How well you care for your devices and how often you bring them in for maintenance checks can impact how long they will last you.
What causes hearing loss?
Hearing loss can be caused by many factors, including:
- Aging
- Loud noise exposure
- Medications
- Infections
- Head or ear trauma
- Genetics factors
To determine what caused your hearing loss, a comprehensive hearing test is the first step.
What is tinnitus?
Tinnitus is a common disorder affecting over 50 million people in the United States. It is often referred to as “ringing in the ears,” although some people hear hissing, roaring, whistling, buzzing or clicking. Tinnitus can be intermittent or constant, with single or multiple tones. The perceived volume can range from very soft to extremely loud and may be recurrent or constant.

What are rechargeable hearing aids?
Rechargeable hearing aids use built-in lithium-ion batteries instead of traditional disposable batteries. Rather than replacing small batteries every few days, you simply place your devices in a charging dock overnight. Many of the hearing aid manufacturers now offer rechargeable hearing aids.
Are there invisible hearing aids?
Yes! Discreet and invisible hearing aids are designed to be very small and minimally noticeable when worn. Some styles sit entirely inside the ear canal, while others are compact behind-the-ear models with slim tubing for a low-profile look.
